The Clearwater Commons received the 2016 Livable Communities award from Futurewise because of its unique blend of a low impact stormwater management, Built Green homes, environmental restoration of North Creek, and shared community amenities. This latest 5 Star Built Green home is just being finished and is available for purchase. An 1830 sq ft home that borders a Native Growth Protection Area, it is an example of how to build on pin foundations surrounded by wetlands. As a 5 star home, it is 30% more efficient than existing energy code. It uses recycled materials, no VOC, FSC cabinets from a local manufacturer, and other natural finishes.
At the Green Home Tour, participants will be able to see the new home, a certified mini passive house, tour the grounds and see the shared shop, gardens, and solar powered electric car charging station. Walking to the creek you will see salmon spawning areas created by a one quarter mile environmental restoration of North Creek, an important spawning area for endangered Chinook salmon.
