The integrated home and garden is based on a master plan created by the homeowner. In 2011 the interior was gutted to the studs. The interior walls, stairwell, kitchen and bath were relocated to enhance natural light and garden views. Radiant heat panels on the ceilings save valuable interior space. Original artwork was incorporated in every room and unique repurposed lighting is showcased. The sustainable garden features cisterns, permeable paving, a small green roof, a compost fence, urban livestock and a large kitchen garden. A future tiny house with a solar array will complete the urban farm vision.
The owner will share her experience in selecting specific interior materials and finishes based on their pros and cons of sustainability, cost, light fastness, and low-maintenance.
